Sunny Buttercup Saturday

Lovely and warm again and this time with sunshine all day.

Straight out to de weed the back garden middle patio this morning. It’s block paving so the gaps between need scraping out to get rid of moss and things that have decided to seed themselves. I’ve got rid of everything not wanted and just left some clumps of Erigeron daisies which I love. Looking a lot tidier for now.
Chris was doing the lower patio around the conservatory but broke off to make us coffee which we drank sitting out side.

I did a bit more weed/grass removal until lunch was ready - bacon butties. After lunch Chris cut the grass and I did a quick weed removal around the front garden whilst Chris was doing the back.
My intention then was to get out a garden reclining chair and read my book in the shade. A few minutes after starting, sitting looking at the garden from a different angle I spotted lots of long grass coming up in amongst the purple azalea. It’s almost impossible to just sit and relax!

Chris spotted the pony field next to Woodbank garden centre was full of buttercups. I could see them too though I hadn’t realised we could see it from the back garden. I abandoned my reading and headed up the village with a parcel to post ( shoes I’ve been waiting for but don’t like) and then walked on to the garden centre passing this field. The yellow of the buttercups didn’t seem quite as intense as it had looked from afar but with the ponies I thought it made a good seasonal blip, especially with the flowering Hawthorne in the hedge in the background.

I went into the garden centre and bought quite a number of birthday cards for the coming months. I’d been looking whilst we were away but all the shops we were in were related to our visits and therefore of a specialist nature.
When I came out I nipped across the road to take a look at the cricket but will need my camera for a good one as I couldn’t really see what they were doing.

Back in the garden I had a cuppa and finished my chapter to the sound of cheering coming from the cricket field. The village has a real summer feel.
More unwanted grass spotted, I’ve now got scratched arms!
