Backblip

Fi and I arrived in Pooley Bridge, having planned to do a short walk before driving a bit further to the Agnes Spencer Hut in Patterdale.

We had an option to make the walk a bit longer with the weather being so fantastic, but Fi's foot trouble had her in pain after 3 miles so we cut it short. She was very apologetic, but I didn't mind at all, better than her suffering!

We got to the hut and found the parking a bit of a squeeze, but John reversed onto the grass so that I could go in front of him.

There were six of us and four others from the Cleveland Mountaineering Club, who own the hut, but it wasn't long before Roger decided to go elsewhere for the night. We're not sure why, he seemed a bit despondent, but perhaps it was because he always either sleeps in his car or bivvies outside, neither of which were an option here. He said it was one of his favourite huts... but it's not one of mine I'm afraid. The kitchen and the "scullery", with the taps and sink, are separate rooms, which is mildly annoying, it gets hardly any sun through the windows, and needs a bit of tlc in general.

John cares for his dad, which I think is quite stressful.  He doesn't drink at home, but when he comes on a hutmeet he tends to drink to excess - a bottle of wine, plus most of a bottle of port... not good for him, but I sort of get it. But when we're all sleeping in the same room, as in this hut, it does lead to a disturbed night when he comes to bed.

Edit: there's something wrong with Blip atm because my latest blip isn't showing up as such.
