Arizona Dreamin’

Peek-a-Boo

Thanks for all of the love you showed to my Pride Lantern yesterday.

Back to the blip!

I noticed these little guys on my walk. They are not just any squirrels. They are Harris' Antelope squirrels.  Very tiny, they weigh an average of 125g/4 oz and about 23.4 cm/9 inches long. Harris's antelope squirrels are found in Arizona and New Mexico in the United States, and in Sonora, Mexico.

They adapt to hot weather conditions including using a technique called "heat dumping" (but aren't doing it now) This blip from a few years ago shows one 'heat dumping' and an explanation of what it is.
---------------------------------------------------
A man comes home after a hard day’s work and opens the refrigerator
to get a soda. Inside, he sees a squirrel taking a nap.
“What are you doing in my fridge?” the man asks.
The squirrel opens one sleepy eye and says, “Isn’t this a Westinghouse?”
“Um, yes,” the man replies. “It is.”
“Well then,” the squirrel says, shutting his eyes again, “I am twying to west.”
