Aftermath

Yesterday was sunny in the morning but very muggy as I walked home from church. As the afternoon progressed the sky darkened and we had a heavy shower just as son Alex arrived with some Father’s Day beer for Chris.

It was easing by the time he left so we thought that was it!
Not so! Grey/green skies and biblical rain followed. Drains and guttering weren’t coping so big puddles were forming at the front and back of the house and the drive was a river.
Reports of road floods around the village too which was born out by the road just around the corner on our estate being 5/6 inches deep in silt when we headed out to ATN singing this morning.

Took a look around the garden first thing, which I’m sure will in the main have appreciated the rain,  and this love pale pink Peony has taken the brunt. Luckily I had bought a bunch of them last week and added some from the garden that were hanging low. I’ve added the one on the left here which is fine but for a bit of dirt around the edges of the petals. At least the red one escaped this year.

Warm and muggy again with a bit of rain starting this afternoon, nothing severe - yet!
