Marjorie's ramblings

The Faroes continued

The weather has been quite spectacular today, with low cloud remaining low over the sea. We visited several coastal villages.

Whilst searching for the best viewpoint for a shot of the clouds, I turned a corner on a harbour and found 2 fishermen attaching floats to a new net.

I spent a happy few minutes photographing them.

The villages each have a church of a simple construction. None has been open, but they appear to have very simple wooden pews and nothing ornate inside.

See two extras.

Tonight there was a cultural event at our hotel. We were treated to a meal of Faroese and other food. I tried a small piece of air dried fish, but it was like hard cardboard! Most of the food was delicious.

The entertainment was by a duo called A15, a bass and sax combination. To my ear the music was terrible. The bass player is clearly talented. The poor sax player could not get one clear note out of his instruments. The four pieces played were all original compositions.

We left before the dancing because we have to be packed up to leave in the morning.

I’m tired, almost too tired to write this, but have enjoyed the whole day.
