Shells

The table, that was previously occupied by a car, was today occupied by some shells. I don't know who had laid them out like this, but they looked good in the relatively low light this morning. Perhaps it was one of the occupants of the three camper vans drawn up in a horseshoe formation, occupying a good deal of space in the car park. Apparently they were there yesterday evening, and L went over to them and told them about the location of the donations box. They were, it seems, surprised that it wasn't just ok by locals, including people who raised money to restore the car park, for them to park wherever they wanted.

Although we had a very good turnout, luckily everyone managed to get parked, although a couple of people had to park on the grass unfortunately. It was a great - and very social - Sunday morning swim. The wind was up, and the water was cold, but there were no breakers at all. The sea was almost flat. Possibly flatter than Loch Migdale yesterday.

The rest of the day has been devoted mainly to more clearing of the crazy paving in the front garden. I think I've done about half the surface area now. It's tedious, dirty, backbreaking work, but it has to be done. Then we plan to put some gravel in the gaps that are left, although that won't stop the weeds coming back. I also took some of the large stones that we cleared out of the front garden flower bed when we reconstructed it, and positioned them in front of the concrete slabs that form the edge of the new flower bed. I think it's an improvement.

As yesterday, there were frequent if relatively light showers all day. That meant that while I managed to have the washing outside for about half an hour, it will mainly have to dry indoors, which is also a bit of a pain.
