Our Day

We enjoyed quite a breakfast feast this morning thanks to Renee since lunch was going to be very light. The teenagers stayed with us while everyone else went to the beach. It was too warm for hubby and me. Parker was covered in poison ivy he got into while clearing brush before the trip. Poor kid, he is miserable. He went to urgent care twice and got all kinds of meds. But we think he was supposed to avoid direct sun. Besides the poison ivy rash all over, now he has a new, terribly itchy rash from the sun. He’s done with the beach. Hubby and I strolled around the neighborhood to get these photos. The first block shows the odd shaped southern live oak, according to Seek. The uninhabited areas are as thick as a jungle with these trees and vines. There are three colors of oleanders, red, white and pink. The juniper is very twisted. Not sure if that is its natural look or if the winds cause the twists. I did not identify the other two flowers. Isla returned from the beach as soon as we got back. I walked her non-stop for hours, asking for hubby’s assistance while I made the kids their promised brownies. But she helped me get my 11,000 steps. Everyone was exhausted last evening from their adventures so we saved the North beach 4-wheel drive ride to see the wild ponies until after dinner tonight. We actually drove on the sand beach almost to the Virginia state line, a 17 mile round trip. But the ponies were out and well worth the occasional fish tail in the deep sand tracks. Hubby is glad that bucket list item can be checked off. Folks have built huge homes up on the dunes and have only sand for their roads. This area is hit quite hard by hurricanes. I would not own a home here. From there we went to “Tim Buck II” so the boys could ride go carts, we could look for a few gifts and then the entire crew got a dip of homemade ice cream. What a fun day. We will go back tomorrow and try to find what I was looking for. Thanks for stopping by. This is the second time I have written my journal. Be safe.
