A beanbag kind of day

Cycled to the pool which was, as usual in a Tuesday, quiet.

Worked all day in the office and got quite a lot done including a couple of meetings. It was sunny outside, then cloudy but windy. Made the earlier cycle home tough!

Then off to my first Festival experience for this year. Quick chat with F next door hearing about their new dog, a 'failed' guidedog. Still to meet her. I was off to the Usher Hall for two concerts by the Budapest Festival Orchestra. And I was in the stalls sitting in a bean bag! The first concert has the musicians in the stage with the conductor Ivan Fischer being interviewed by Nicola Benedetti and sections of the orchestra playing different styles of music; early to Hungarian folk. Only an hour but it was great fun.

Then a break to concert two. I had a wee walk up Lothian Rd. The second concert, Dvorak's 8th Symphony, the musicians were inamongst the audience. True surround sound. I was sat at Ivan Fischer's feet beside violins,  violas and cellos. He explained the music, had the orchestra playing different styles and effects. It was funny, informative and thrilling. Can't really describe the experience of suiting in a bean bag with a while lot of other folk hearing great music close up.

It was after 11 before it finished. Luckily it wasn't too long before I got a 37, which after the Bridges was rammed (Tattoo!) and was home before midnight. So  glad I went.
