Adolescent robin

This is something I've never seen before - one of this year's robin chicks in the process of losing its speckled baby feathers and growing adult red, brown and white feathers from the bottom up!  What a little bundle of enchantment.

Today I walked through the reserve, went into town to meet Little Sis for coffee and bought a birthday lunch for tomorrow (yes, I'm going to be a year older, as one tends to be on such days  *sigh*).  Still it should be a fun day and I particularly look forward to seeing J and whatever dogs he has trotting at his heels.
