An ordinary life....

You wait ages for a Dave...

Then two come along at once :-))

We had the most wonderful time at Keith and Mairi's BBQ.

Unfortunately the weather was awful.  Well I say awful, it was either bright sunshine or torrential rain with nothing in between.  Keith and his son Ross braved the rain and produced the most amazing BBQ spread.  The most delicious burgers I have ever tasted, Mexican chicken burgers, sausages, lamb kebabs to name a few.  And Mairi produced a lovely buffet of accompaniments; salads, various pastas, coleslaw, olives.  Yum!

So great to catch up with the Lake District guys and their other halves.  The last time I saw Kevin and Fiona's daughter Zoe, she was only two (I've seen Kevin and Fiona many times since then but not Zoe) She's now 13 and such a lovely girl.  She's recently taken up crochet so we had a good natter about that.

Everyone enjoyed the Empire biscuits and Malteser rocky road.  Kevin hugged me at least three times and thanked me for making them (he has a real sweet tooth.  I normally bake scones, banana loaf or Empire biscuits for their Lake District weekend, so now Malteser rocky road has been requested too!)

Dave and Lisa were their too with there little boy Jack, who is 19 months old.  We saw him last year when they came for lunch when he was only five months old.  He's now 19 months old and found his feet and his voice :-)  They are coming to visit us next month so no doubt he'll feature in my blip.

All too soon it was time to head home and we left Keith & Mairi's around 9.30pm.

As they live a stone's throw from the first house we lived in when we got married in 1989 and are similarly close to the two houses we lived in after that (before moving to where we are now) we couldn't resist making a little detour to visit all our previous three houses.  Oh my, the memories that stirred.  The last thirty four years really have gone by in a blink.

What a lovely day :-)
