Plastic Wrap

Today was all about decorating. We spent the morning doing as much as we could between us. I focussed on the second coat in the living room and PY on the prep and base coat in the spare room.  While that was happening we waited for the Curry’s collection to pick up the old Oven which has been sat on the floor awaiting collection since the new one was fitted on the last visit. The chap who collected the oven commented that the flat was like a sauna this morning and I can’t help but feel that it must be very well insulated as it doesn’t take much heating to get up to temperature.

We ended up in Newport just after lunch so stopped for a toasted baguette and coffee at Richmond’s which was new to us and will definitely be on our list again as the coffee was excellent. And then a walk to Dunelm to collect some more curtains as the lone curtain over the patio doors doesn’t really work. There was a bit of a convoluted walk through the grounds of the Isle of Wight College to B&Q so we could pick up another tin of the paint we are using.  Without a car we are fairly limited to buying one tin at a time.  It was, however, plenty to get this room finished and a partial first coat on the other room.

We cleared up a little so we could eat and then decided to head back to the The Star Coffee & Ale House for the live music they mentioned yesterday.   It was a fantastic evening and, in spite of saying they close at 9pm, they stayed open after the music so we could have more drinks. I went a little too heavy on the red wine. PY had beer and then Mermaid Gin cocktails.  We will both suffer a little tomorrow.
