An ordinary life....

Excitement rules the day!

My friend L who is a very experienced and well known lady in the golden retriever world has got a new pup (her brood now numbers 6) and we couldn't wait to meet him.

She visited after lunch but the tiny boy was absolutely zonked in his crate in the car after a very busy morning, so we left him to it and had coffee and a good old catch up.  This of course meant Lola got all of L's attention so that made her very happy.

After a while we checked on him and he was sitting up in his crate looking out the car window.  Despite his excitement at seeing us he was a very good boy and held on to his pee till he was safely in the garden :-)

Oh what a wee cutie!  I can barely remember Lola being that size.  He's 12 weeks old, been with L a month and not had a single accident indoors.  He's even started to cock his leg!  L says the earliest any of her dogs have done this is age 6 months.  Looks like he's been keeping a close eye on his housemates! :-)

It was so lovely to see him running about in the garden, his little tail high in the air.  We let him run about for a bit before introducing Lola.  He was a bit wary of her as she ran to him to play and he hid behind L's legs.  Lola must have sensed he was wary as she left him alone and ran and played in the garden and of course his curiosity got the better of him and he ran after her.  He was still a bit wary of her (she is very bouncy and very fast!) but she charmed him in the end and he was keen to get closer to her.

L asked me last year if I would paint a slate tile for her with her house name  to put in the garden.  I of course said yes, but still hadn't gotten around to doing it, however once her visit was arranged it focussed my mind, so I started painting it a few days ago.  Not that I was cutting it fine or anything but I only put the last coat of varnish on it this morning!

As it was a bit of rush job in the end I'm not entirely happy with it but she absolutely loved it and got quite emotional, so that was a relief.  Either that or her tears were of horror at having to display it near her front door!  LOL!

Not long after L left I got a message from Nikki to say that Esme had gone into school without a backward glance and really enjoyed her first day.  All the P1s have a buddy and she really like hers, and she came to play with Esme in the little park opposite their house after school.  She's looking forward to tomorrow so relief all round.  Here's hoping that continues for the next 12 school years! :D She also sent me some photos so I've included a couple of those in my blip.

A momentous day :-)

PS Thank you so much for all of your lovely comments, stars and hearts on Alan's birthday blip yesterday xx
