The Meridian Arms

Top left photograph - Yes, started on the main roof attic now that we have pretty much completed the garage attic sorting out.
Amongst many other things I found 'The Meridian Arms'. I, and other Nortel Networks employees working on the huge BT contract, were given one of these at the launch celebration held at Boulters Lock, Maidenhead. The contract was worth many, many, millions of £'s to Nortel.
The contract was BT taking on our portfolio of Meridian1 PABX (Private Automatic Branch Exchange) telephone systems to replace their aging BTEX and previous Northern Telecom (previous name for Nortel Networks) SL-1 systems.
Significant signs  are;
The Meridian Arms, because the PABX systems were called Meridian 1.
The telephone Box representing BT (British Telecom).
Date above the rear door is January 1990 which is when the contract was signed.
and the fox, creeping around the bush to the left of the telephone box, representing the introduction of the latest system, Option11, which was a small, wall or rack mounted, business system. 'Fox' was the code name for the system prior to giving it the official launch name.
All the Meridian 1 systems had numbers representing their size. 11, 11C, 50, 60, 81, with number of lines ranging from 60 to 80,000 lines (telephones and trunks).
One of my first tasks, apart from teaching a foreign class on the old SL-1 system and taking on the Meridian 1 system training, was writing the training manual for the Option11, and then the updated Option11C.
Exciting times, and I was so pleased to find The Meridian Arms, a bit of history for me, as I'd only just joined Nortel after returning from Saudi Arabia, and for Nortel Networks.
