A very big birthday

Yes, Mum was 102 today.

There are not too many in her age group, although people are living longer.

We had a quiet morning when she opened cards, e-cards, emails and messages.

I made a batch of cheese scones (again). They did not look right. Hmm. They had no cheese in them. Since they contained cayenne pepper, salt and mustard powder, I could not disguise them as plain scones!!

A second batch was made, with cheese, and all was well.

There were a few phone calls, then friends arrived for tea and cake (and scones). It was very hot and we had the fan on. We survived.

Christine’s gingerbread from Sunday was delicious.

There are cards everywhere and nearly all the vases are full of flowers.

Mum has enjoyed her celebrations.

PS we tried some different sparklers which were marginally better than on 3rd. Only marginally!
