Eyes of frog

It was a lapsed blipper's birthday today, Brislee Mat (as Smooth (Little) Matthew calls him), otherwise known as Brokenbanjo.

Gus and I accompanied S & J, Little Matthew and Brislee Mat to Sunbiggin. This time not to look at the tarn, but to explore the alkaline fens and admire the Bird's-eye Primroses flowering in profusion. But what captured Little Matthew's imagination most were the frogs, dozens of them of all sizes and in a variety of colours, hopping about on the Sphagnum.

A good morning's botanising which should have been followed by a meal in the Orton Chocolate Shop. But Gus was denied entry for being the wrong species, so we had our lunch on a bench in the village.

Then back to deliver Brislee home for his next birthday activity, and Gus and I came home to spend some time garden taming. Meanwhile, Wifie has been doing her Tai Chi weekend. And now it is time for Gus's walk along the estuary.
