I was glad that today's walk was a very easy one, as I was feeling fairly worn out. We also managed to set off a bit earlier than usual, hoping to avoid the heat.

We drove up to Esterri de Cardos (extra: the Mare de Deu/BVM in a house wall) and walked along a contour line from there to a mirador (viewpoint). But I've already blipped the view from there. Then the others walked uphill to Ginestarre while I returned to the car and drove the 1.5 kilometres to meet them. This was hairier than I expected because a chunk of the road on a very steep and very sharp hairpin bend had been cordoned off due to part of the road having fallen off into the valley. I had to do an x-pointed turn to the tune of burning rubber in order to negotiate it without joining the chunk of concrete in the valley.

In Ginestarre we visited Rosa Maria the weaver in her workshop. We've met her previously, in 2019 I find (thanks Blipfoto!) and G and A have seen her more recently than that since she had invited them to the village fiesta a couple of weeks ago. A bought a lovely scarf as a gift for a friend, and Rosa Maria showed us the workshop where she actually works, as opposed to the showroom, where the two looms are for show only. The workshop is a glorious farrago of looms, masses of yarn, tools, finished and half-finished items -- she kept apologising for the mess.

Then S drove us back down. The hairpin bend was basically impossible from this direction. There was a certain amount of shrieking, and more burnt rubber, until a local showed us that instead of doing the hairpin we could go straight on along a dirt track, turn round in a gateway further on, and then come back and head in the right direction. I do think they could have put a notice up for unwary drivers. Still, the nearly dead car managed it.

Salad lunch and lazing in the shade again. Now we are around the table for pre-dinner aperos.
