Life in Sunny Dubai

Impromptu

(7/9/23)

It's Wednesday, so G & I set out to give Nara the space he needs. We were heading to Dubai Mall to get some exercise, but we ended up driving to the EXPO 2020 site to see what was going on there. There is progress in dismantling pavilions (it's still ongoing) and building new homes and communities. We drove around the perimeter road, so we didn't see anything in detail, but G enjoyed taking photos from a moving car. :))

We did get to Dubai Mall for our walk and enjoyed iced drinks at the newly refurbished Costa Coffee. I love how light and airy their new decor is.

Back home for lunch and for me to work, we went out again in the (relative) cool of the evening to finish off the last things for G. First off, we got the zip of a camera bag repaired. I'd been quoted £9 in a mall chain last week. Today, closer to home, the man first said £20 and that the entire zip needed to be changed. He then fixed it for £2. There you go.

We then called in at the branch of a new chain of supermarkets (Viva). G was on the lookout for a shampoo they stock. It's like Lidl's, except not as smart! From the little I saw, their products are made in China for international brands. Because it was close to it, we checked out the table tennis facilities at Al Wasl Sports Club. Al Wasl is one of Dubai's three football teams. We noted that they have a match tomorrow, so we made a mental note to look out for it on TV.

I had to make a quick stop in Wafi for some meds before we parked up in Al Seef. I promised G a dessert of her choice (my extra). She chose Kunafa in the restaurant called Nablus (the real Nablus in Palestine makes the best Kunafa - so says G). We got there late, with just enough time to eat dessert, but boy was it hot and humid. *Someone* decided to sit out to eat.
