The Merry (Golf) Widows...

Backblip

Ele and I had a lovely dinner and catch up yesterday evening and weren't too late to bed.

Up sharp this morning to get the last of the food prep done for tonight's dinner with the other golf widows.

Got the venison and red wine casserole into the slow cooker so could relax and forget about that.  Ele peeled the potatoes and I trimmed the green beans.  Prepared all the fruit for dessert and lastly I made the smoked ,mackerel pate starter.

Ele popped to the coop to get some fresh sourdough bread, then we had soup for lunch before heading upstairs to freshen up.

Mairi was the first to arrive, followed by Gail then Natalie.  We had coffee and goodies and compared notes from the golfers.  I was unaware that on Monday night D had fallen asleep in bed holding a glass of water that slipped as he fell asleep and soaked him as the glass fell to the floor and smashed!  He then jumped out of bed and cut his foot on a small piece of glass.  He kept that quiet!

Coffee consumed we moved to G&Ts for the non-drivers and soft drinks for Mairi and Natalie who were unable to stay the night.

We had a lovely evening blethering and laughing and due to the earlier preparation, dinner was a breeze and thankfully enjoyed by everyone.  As you can see from my blip we were missing the golfers dreadfully :-)  And I had intended to put the cream, yogurt and creme fraiche into serving dishes but Gail got the tubs from the fridge and took them straight to the table! lol

More after dinner blethering before Natalie and Mairi left just after 11pm.  Ele, Gail and I recharged our G&Ts and before we knew it, it was 2am.  Gail was astounded to still be awake as she is usually in bed by 10pm.

Assured them there was no need to be up early in the morning and we bid one another good night.

A lovely day :-))

PS Word came in during the evening that Keith had won the tournament, Stephen was second, David and Alan joint third, Jim fourth and Kenny last.  So I will have to find a candle or ornament to fill the gap on the bookcase where the trophy was :-)
