Stonelick Lake

Tuesday
Late morning we attended a memorial service for one of our friends from our last church. Joan and Bob were long time members of the church, and very involved - Joan was part of the gardening group that took care of the flower beds around the church grounds, and also founded the knitting group that she still runs, and I still go to. Bob served on various committees at different times, and they both held an evening fellowship group. They were a wonderful caring Christian couple. Like us, they were also lovers of music, and we would quite often meet up with them at Symphony concerts or organ recitals. Joan was originally from Oregon, and Bob from Michigan, and they had a cottage there where they would spend much of the summer - Bob was a keen sailor and loved anything to do with boats, especially wooden boats. They were both at the cottage about three weeks ago, when Bob suffered an abdominal aneurysm from which he died. He will be deeply missed by many, family, church family, friends and former colleagues.
We of course got talking with various people who we knew when we attended there - it was good seeing people again. Afterwards there was a fellowship lunch open to everyone, so we stayed for that too.
It was another hot sunny day, so in the afternoon, we loaded up the kayaks and headed for Stonelick Lake, where we had a beautiful peaceful paddle - we had the lake to ourselves, we didn’t even see any fishermen out. As you can see from my collage, the water was still and the reflections were beautiful.
One more day of hot sunny weather, then the temperatures begin to fall!
