Shaving time

This big plate of flaked fish with an occasional garnish of chives and black pepper looks good, doesn't it!

My culinary skills are largely a fiction, and rather less honed than my brace of sharp things, and this bountiful meal was in fact the product of an hour's power planing of the scaffolding boards in the garden after work.  My patio is literally thick with inch-long slivers of wood, which the machine pours out at an amazing rate.  I would and could have swept them up for the woodburner but even before I'd finished, the weather was delighted that the Mistress of Moisture was outside again and promptly rained on me, my pile of proto-kindling, and my newly flattened boards.  Still, it's progress.
