Life's Little Moments

Golden Day

Actually it was a very brisk, very windy day, but the hickory and maple trees in the woods are providing a beautiful golden backdrop to my perches right now.  Expect some other similar shots over the next few days as the fall foliage will fade fast now.

In other signs of fall, there was a big, fat wooly bear (Isabella Tiger Moth) caterpillar trundling through the mulch today in a hurry to get...somewhere.  And robins are busy at the edge of the forest.  Shockingly, we haven't see a bear recently.

Hubs and our good friend dug a hole and planted a lovely Eastern Redbud tree in our front yard today.  The tree was a gift from our friend John and his wife, given in memory of Hubs' mother.  After the tree was safely planted and mulched, Hubs put up a stretch of deer fencing to keep it safe over the winter.  If we are lucky, it will produce little pinkish red flowers next spring, followed by its lovely heart-shaped leaves.  What a loving and thoughtful gesture from our friends.

Hubs and Jax and I all had a little nap this afternoon which felt good but also a bit decadent.  I find, however, that my body demands periods of rest that it never needed when I was younger.

Another day with almost no pain!  Dare I hope that the meds are finally kicking in?  It's been 8 weeks so it's not too soon...  I never appreciated not having things hurt...until things started to hurt!

Plain dark again today.
