Another day of
sunshine and blue sky to aid
our day of driving

~carliewired

We left Layton, Utah about 10 heading for Zion National Park, one of my most favourite places in the world. It was a cold start to the morning with the temperature hovering at freezing.

Our day of driving followed the Interstate 15 south through Salt Lake City and further south to connect with Hwy 9 in La Verkin, Utah.

Most of the trip today was in wide open country with hills, sand and sagebrush. We stopped for a stretch at the roadside and to examine a juniper tree, loaded with blue berries or cones. Wildlife will consume these fruits and humans will use them to season and flavour food and beverages.

We arrived at our hotel before dinner. It was a warm summery day. We found some guests in the hotel pool and hot tub.

Our dinner was in the Stage Coach Grille just down the road from the hotel. My chicken marsala was fabulous. My brother loved his ribs. At the front of the restaurant they had decorated their signature stage coach with some Hallowe'en decorations.

I got a shot of the little church across the street from the restaurant. We've been travelling through Mormon country all day. These churches with spires are everywhere to be seen.

It will be an early night. My cranky feet are still complaining even when they've had the day off.
