Wells-next-the-sea

The weather was forecast to be dreadful today. It was raining when we woke up, and we expected rain all day but actually it was much better than expected. Gavin walked Xena on the beach this morning while I made the curry for tonight's dinner. The rain stopped and it was a calm and lovely day so we decided to go to Wells-next-the sea.

We had a light lunch at Wells Deli, then went for a walk from the town to the beach. I took so many photos as the light was lovely - soft and diffused from the clouds, and the water was calm as there was no wind.

This is a view looking back at the town. The granary building with the overhanging gantry you can see here was built in 1903-6 and allowed grain to be transferred between the building and the ship without disrupting the road traffic. The grain was mainly hops used in the brewery business. Today this building has been converted into apartments. The extra is of some boats at low tide lying on the sand.

When we got home we had a zoom call with travel agent about a possible holiday we are planning for the end of 2024. Amazing how you can have a zoom call with an agent at 5pm on a Saturday - pre the pandemic it would have meant an in-person visit to a travel agent who would most likely not be working on a Saturday afternoon.

Tommy and Inca arrived at about 6pm. It is lovely to see them again - they will be staying here until mid week, Inca is on study leave as she has exams every term for her course. I made a veggie curry for supper which is good for a winter's evening.
