Mr hazelh's family birthday party

We had a good night in our weekend accommodation. At about 9:30am we walked up the lane to join most of the rest of the family for breakfast at my sister and brother-in-law's house. Then we all helped get the house ready for the arrival of the rest of the guests. My main job was to iron three enormous white tablecloths and set the double table for lunch for sixteen adults and two children (but not the baby).

The three other parties arrived at the same time: Mr hazelh's mother Gill and step-father Clive; Mr hazelh's second sister Cindy, her partner Julian and their daughter Florence; and Mr hazelh's third sister Sarah, her husband Al, and their two sons Freddie and Xander. We all created so much noise on greeting one another that Julian's Apple watch recommended that he turn the volume down to protect his hearing!

First we sat together for coffee/tea, cake, and biscuits. Not long afterwards the Champagne came out. Blipped here is that supplied by our absent brother-in-law with barman Mr hazelh. Then we gathered round the table for a feast of Lochinver pies, mushy peas, and mashed potatoes (which may sound familiar). Our pudding was birthday cake.

The afternoon entertainment was a series of games. Cindy was crowned the Empress after a couple of rounds of Empire.

All too soon it was time for the daytime visitors to head home, leaving ten of us here to continue the fun into the evening. Beth's singing has been one of the highlights. Mr hazelh has also been playing guitar.

For those who are hungry(!) dinner will soon be served...

Exercise today: walking (10,419 steps).
