St.Cuthbert’s Well

I am still in St.Cuthbert mode so, after faffing with various jobs this morning, I called by Clifton on my way into town. I’d read that St.Cuthbert’s church had reputedly been one of the places where they had rested on the long and circuitous journey carrying St.Cuthbert to his final resting place at Durham. Quite what evidence there is for this, I’m not sure, but the village also has a well named after him too. I went for a wet walk on Barton before going into town and calling in on the very helpful chaps at Halfords.
