New

The locum position I am in for the next six weeks (25% done already) involves 0800 starts, which is fine when we are in Auckland. This last weekend we were delayed in heading out of the city as S needed to be here on Saturday afternoon to meet a publisher, who was here from Wellington, and has been hard to pin down. The wonderful news is that he has agreed to publish her first collection of poems; probably in about a year.

We then went to the beach house where we hosted S' cousin and wife. They were here to sign the purchase agreement on a property in Snells Beach. Cousin is semi-retiring from rural general practice in Queensland. We had the pleasure of their company all of yesterday (they were leaving today), and anyway the wild weather I mentioned in yesterday's blip would have persuaded me to stay overnight had I thought otherwise.

Driving down to North Shore this morning, meant leaving home before 0700, and therefore no morning run. A full day. Result: a late run this evening to where I knew there is a new posting of a Local Thought. This is from the fence around the Soho development. The large hole in the ground which once was going to be a grandiose development, and now is to become a supermarket and care parking building. Almost exactly a year ago, I first blipped a thought in this spot. It lasted a week or two. It was replaced some time later by a second.

This unpainted plain white section has been free of graffiti and of thoughts until the last couple of weeks, when I first noticed this determined giving vent to a new definition of an old word.

This is not quite on Ponsonby Road.
