Not a duck-billed platypus!

Thank you for all the comments on my yesterblip - those folds of snow would have been perfect for today's Mono Monday theme of 'layers'. Only one small layer is now all that remains, holding some moss that it pulled off the solar panels, which was helpful. Thanks to Kathy for hosting the challenge.

One road in our daughter's village was deeply flooded today. (Not people's homes or even gardens, thankfully; only the road itself.) It often floods during heavy rain, but the melted snow made it deeper than usual, so we drove through the middle of the village to avoid it.

The ground was soft enough for our daughter and son-in-law to bury Pandora, the last guinea pig, bringing a lump to my throat. When little Miss B came home from school I helped her to bake scones. She chose the traditional hand-method of rubbing fat into flour and understood the need for a light touch. When they were done, she put them out on plates for everyone and provided a wonderful waitress-service, carrying three small plates at once to hand them round. She also gave one to her brother, not bothering with a plate. His face lit up! He does like his food. And I have to say, they were delicious.

My favourite quote of the day: "You do give big hugs for a little granny!"
