Christmas Eve

Though we were corrected this morning by our Rector who said it was the fourth Sunday in Advent until this afternoon when it would be Christmas Eve.

The Christingles were all lined up in the family room ready for two services this afternoon, a time consuming job which this year has been undertaken by Yorkshire Treats, the bakery across the road, very well done to them!

Chris managed to get some help to restore the Star on the Nativity, he’s placed it further down the cross so it is less vulnerable to the wind.

The continuing wind has taken its toll on the lovely arch put up last week by Woodbank nurseries, but it is now sporting lanterns and the battery powered candies in them will look lovely in the later services today when it is darker.

It’s a good job Chris had restored Mary to the Nativity as the fourth Advent candle is for Mary and today’s service was about her. R our Rector did give his thanks and commented that Joseph had been a one parent family earlier in the week!

Won’t be going to the Christingle services though they are magical for little ones. Might make muster to Midnight communion but I have had several late nights this week, staying up last night to watch all 6 episodes of Part 2 of The Crown. On the whole I thought it was good. Particularly the last episode with all three incarnations of the Queen who, was rather poignantly, looking at her mortality.
