Flooded

TT and I were up relatively early as we were heading down to York to visit his mum for a few days.  BB got in at around 5am, so he was not up early.  TT declared we would be leaving at 11am.  That gave me plenty time to bake a cake, pack a bag and get myself organised.  BB on the otherhand had time for a shower and to through a few things into a bag.  However, I had noticed that even at 5am, he must have had the sense to put some stuff out, in anticipation of the need to pack a bag!

Our drive south was through all kinds of weather – mostly pretty horrid, with lots of rain, everything from drizzle to really heavy.  We stopped off near York and picked up some lunch, but we decided to keep going and just eat it at Grandma’s.  Needless to say we were all starving when we got there and the first thing we did, was have our late lunch.

BB had slept most of the way, and was keen to get some fresh air, so him and I popped out for a quick walk, getting back just as it was getting dark.  Our usual quick walk, along the river path is not possible, as the river is very high and in flood.  We had a nice walk though, which ended up back in town,

When we got back, TT was getting ready to head off again, as the boys were going to Hull to a football match.  TT supports Hull City.  BB was only going for the football (and the pie), as he supports neither Hull City nor their opposition (Blackburn).

A little later TT’s mum and I went round to a neighbour for post-Christmas drinks.  I joked that I was meeting up with the Thursday Murder Club!  It was all very pleasant and lovely to meet some of her neighbours.  We were there a couple of hours and came home and had something to eat and a proper catch up.  She went off to bed for an early night, and I was also weary, so went to bed to read my book.  The boys got home about 11:30.  TT was delighted, as his team had won.  BB was quite happy as he had had a steak pie!

To celebrate ten years of blipping, here are two images of the flooded River Ouse in York.
