There Must Be Magic

Five Trees in Snow

And then the weather threw everything at us that it had. It snowed about six more inches from morning to early afternoon. It just put it down like crazy! Then the sky opened up and poured down rain. And finally, as the rain began to move out, along came the winds. Many people lost power in Pennsylvania; ours flickered, we held our breath, it stayed on.

During the best and heaviest part of the snow, I went outside for a walk around the neighborhood with my umbrella. This photo is of a group of trees I like in a nearby farm field. There are five of them, of assorted shapes and sizes. My view, and everything behind the trees, was obscured by heavy snow.

Each day, Blipfoto gives me a small but worthy goal: to come up with one decent photo to share with the world. Sometimes simpler is better. So here is my photographic contribution for this day: five trees in snow.

The song that immediately came to mind was Winter White Hymnal, which is a weird song, especially if you listen to the lyrics at all. According to the guy who wrote it, it is about the loss of innocence. Anyway, here are two favorite versions: one by Fleet Foxes, and one by Pentatonix.
