Calne Changes (Tuesday 30th January 2024)

The good folk of Calne don't respond well to change. This newsagents has been known as Martin's, McColl's, Newshop and, before 1995, as Kiosks, which is what people still call it. It is going to be closed for the next two weeks when of course it will reopen as a Morrisons Daily. Although work has begun, surprisingly the shop and Post Office were still open today.

Lozarhythm Of The Day:
Geater Davis - I'm gonna change (recorded 1973, FAME Studios, Muscle Shoals AL)
I know Geater Davis only from his version of For Your Precious Love, which John Peel used to play. In the edition of Mojo that I finished reading yesterday this was chosen in the section Mindblowers! by the Afghan Wigs' Greg Dulli: "The horns hit you full force right at the jump; like a widescreen version of Shine On You Crazy Diamond. It's one of the great ambush moves in music history. But it's still not enough to prepare you for the VOICE. Geater Davis is one of the greatest singers you will ever hear. Ever. Sandpaper and velvet. Like a chopped and screwed David Ruffin. He takes every syllable and milks it for everything it's got..."
