Stolen Focus

The book Jeri is reading is one I am lending her, and one I would recommend to anyone who wants to know why they find it so hard to focus and stay on track with things. Author Johann Hari looks at social media, its influence and its ways of keeping you scrolling, the pressures and stresses of modern life, the decline of reading actual books, processed diets, pollution and the lack of freedom the children have nowadays and how these things have brought about changes in people and the way experience life.

He writes about difficult and complex topics in a very easy to read style. It is probably one of the most engrossing, page-turning non fiction books I have ever read and really opened my eyes on how and why things have changed so much from the time when my own daughter was a child to how things are for her children. (It affects all of us, not just the children of course.)

Today we celebrated Theo's birthday - he will turn 11 next Thursday. There is an extra of him just after he blew out the candles on his cake (Baked by Jeri of course!)

We had a good laugh, watched football (Another 3 points in the bag for Man U!) and had a hilarious game of Cards Against Humanity. We are home later than normal, hence the late posting of the Blip!
