Along the Way

We did not get home from the concert until midnight; somehow we were up at 6. And we did not win any of the prizes but were still happy to contribute to a worthy cause. My first task this morning was emptying the dishwasher. I filled our coolers and hubby loaded everything into the SUV. My sister folded laundry and helped get the kitchen cleaned after our quick breakfast. Our BIL finished loading the truck and then he drained the plumbing system and filled it with antifreeze. We were on the road by 8:05. Traffic was light and we had sunny blue skies for the entire trip. It was still very cold (below freezing) and breezy when we were out of the car. We made our five usual stops: Rural King for birdseed, Hilltop Market for cheese and seasonings, Blue Goose for pastry and coconut cake, BJ’s for gas and someplace for lunch. Today, we chose Sand Spring Restaurant and Saloon in Frostburg. We’ve dined there with Skylar a few times. We got off the interstate for a bit and traveled a winding country road. At least it was paved and had two lanes. I tried to show you the winter landscape along our route today. Highlights were: a covered bridge, old wrecker, our lunch, Fish Creek where my sister found a lot of sea glass, Cheat Lake, a few deer, snow covered mountain forests, a few new barns and whimsical snowmen at Blue Goose. My sister and BIL got home hours before us. They are unable to stop because it is too cold for Sugar. But hubby really needs to get out and stretch to stay awake. He dozed once and scared us both. Thankfully we were just a few miles from the bakery. We have about an hour before we will get home. We will probably crash on the recliners as soon as the perishable food is put away. Wishing you a safe and enjoyable week ahead. Thanks for visiting. “Creating stories with every pit stop and winding road." - unknown
