Grumpy Old Man

A walk on the wild side

Another starry night with a very light frost. Good to wake up to sunshine again!

'Office work' this morning, then a quick visit from Daughter One and colleague who were on their way to a conference.

After lunch I drove up to Tralee, about 8 miles north of us, to join a Lichen walk organised by the Gardens Group of U3A. My first official U3A event! There were only seven of us and the leader knew a great deal about lichens and pointed out many different species. We walked along the beach at Tralee, through the woods and back down the road to the car park, all in beautiful sunshine. My Blip today is of the group studying lichens on the rocks. It's rather a specialised subject - I think I prefer plants that can be seen without the use of a hand lens!

Good to get out in the sunshine - I must remember to take a lens with me next time we go to Tralee beach!
