 The rain of winter
will bring forth an abundance
of desert colour

~carliewired

Last evening the dog walkers would stop in front of my house, pull out a cell phone and take photos. I just had to go out there to find out what the attraction was.

The prickly pear cactus is starting to bloom. This is the first time I've seen this plant with buds and blossoms. No doubt the rain we've had in the recent past has encouraged all desert plants. This plant faces south and backs against my front wall so it gets a lot of sunshine and heat. Unfortunately, I won't be here when the fruit is ready to pick.

I have no plans to leave the yard today. I will work on my list of jobs to do before I leave.
