The Glorious Playground...

We had a lovely time at Gleneagles today having their Centenary Afternoon Tea in the Glendevon Suite.  This was our Christmas 2022 gift from Alan that we finally managed to organise.  

We've had delicious meals in the various restaurants in Gleneagles over the years, but we've also had some shockingly bad experiences too.  The last time we were there was with our friends Agnes and Adrian.  We took them for lunch at the Strathearn Restaurant for Agnes's 50th and after telling them what a wonderful experience it would be, it wasn't.  We were keen to see how it fared today and I am glad to say, we weren't disappointed.

The Glendevon Suite is beautiful.  Warm and welcoming with a lovely atmosphere and of course a beautiful view of Glendevon.  

We were shown to our table and the waitress spent time going over the menu, explaining all the items on the menu are inspired by popular dishes served in the hotel since it opened 100 years ago in 1924.  She also discussed the range of teas on offer and left us for a few moments to decide.  Although Gleneagles Breakfast tea is what we would normally have ordered, we decided to be adventurous and I had the Rare Tulsi from Ilam, Eastern Nepal (a natural fruity sweetness evocative of juicy chewing gum, layers of delicious complexity, with additional notes of cinnamon, cloves and a gentle aniseed finish.)  David chose Genmaicha from Shizuoka, Japan (a remarkably complex and deep tea with rich verdant notes and a deep comforting finish with the aroma of popcorn.). I really enjoyed mine and D said he enjoyed his too but opted for the Centenary Gleneagles breakfast tea (from the Shire Highlands of Malawi) for his second pot :-). Unable to finish all the sweet treats, the waitress kindly boxed them up for us to take home.  We had a really lovely time but unlike Rod Stewart, we didn't leave a tip of £10, 000 :-))

We had a wander down the Gleneagles arcade looking at all the lovely shops sadly we'd left all our gold bullion at home so no purchases were made then a wander in the grounds (more pics in extras) but that was cut short as it was absolutely freezing.  Such a contrast to yesterday's lovely day.  Some brave people were playing tennis!  I suppose the exercise would keep them warm.  

Once home I finished crocheting the last of the pink squares for the wedding blanket.  Hopefully will complete the blue squares by the end of this week and get them joined together.  I am hopeful I will have it finished in time for the wedding celebration on 4th May.

I may have had a little snooze at some point this evening before toast and a cuppa for supper.  Still too full from earlier to eat anything more substantial.  

A very nice end to an enjoyeable Easter weekend.
