Glorious afternoon at..

RHS Harlow Carr!

What a change from yesterday. Lovely in the sun if still a bit nippy out of it and in the wind. But NO rain!

We started by queueing for Betty’s tea rooms. I’d been at Pilates in the morning and Chris had been to the dentist so we were both ready for at least a coffee. Not too long to wait and once in we opted to share two delicious sandwiches and some chips. These sandwiches are pretty pricey but I’ve yet to have better. A great ration of substantial filling to minimal bread and accompanied by a tasty salad.

Then out into the gardens. Still lots of work going on but the stream-side and woodland edges were full of delightful and colourful plantings.  One if the reasons for going in Spring is to see tulips.
They are mainly in exuberant pots but dotted around the site too. Having posted tulips yesterday I didn’t want to concentrate on them but the ones in the thumbnail were amazing and the crab apple hedge behind was full of lovely blossom.
Colourful Rhodies and Azaleas in the woodland, some already dropping, and lots of Narcissus, particularly white varieties. Some of the large pots were daffodils combined with hyacinths in all colours - bottom left.

The Harrogate Arms is looking good and is due to open any time soon, maybe we will try there next time.

I’ll add a Flickr album later if anyone wants to see more. A very pleasant lunch and afternoon out.
