K Road

Wet and cold first thing this morning, and then we came back to Auckland early afternoon to farewell daughter C and her boys (Mr H and Young L). She is off to a teacher's conference in Rotorua during this first week of the school holidays, so the boys get a trip away to a place they like to visit.

Squeezed in a short run late this afternoon and managed to avoid getting too cold with the icy rain which hit very soon after I took this photo on a wall at the back of a parking lot near where K Road joins Great North Road. It was painted as part of the All Fresco live painting festival in early May 2013. The artists have signed their work; BMD are in actuality Andrew and Damin. Two young men who are currently based in Wellington, where they have at least 40 murals to their credit.

A few days ago they featured on television news after a reporter tracked them down, having seen numerous examples of their work and being interested in finding out about them. They consented to be interviewed, provided they could wear their painting masks (which remained on throughout the 3 minute interview, which I found and watched by searching for BMD street artist).

ADDITIONAL: After replying to scribbler, I feel I should make comment here also, that K Road is the centre of the sex industry in Auckland.
