A Day Worth Recording

We're having a few days together as a family. We had thought about going away but fitting that into everyone's individual commitments and diaries proved unworkable, so we're having a virtual holiday at home; with real beer and real unhealthy holiday food.

Also managed to go clothes shopping and get a haircut this morning. Cambridge was absolutely heaving with packs of tour tourists, all with blank far-away expressions.

These days are likely to involve a number of boardgames. We played two today, punctuated by a walk along the river at Fen Ditton; a walk from which embarrassing pictures will be kept securely for future entertainment / blackmail, and so on.

The first game today was Totem. Nice bits but we're unconvinced about the game. It's one I remember liking and when an opportunity came up for a second hand copy we took it; but the game today was unsatisfying even though I scraped a victory.

The second was Wettstreit der Baumeister which was much more satisfying although there was more luck involved in this than in Totem.

I won that too; I don't suppose the pattern will last.
