The colour purple

Today I offer a stylised flower study. This is a type of phlox that has suddenly burst into flower. The colour is wonderful and the evening scent terrific. I grow this solitary plant in a rich compost in a tub in partial shade near the back door. This suits phlox which can even thrive in just four hours of sun - or even none at all. I keep it well-watered and because it is sheltered by the wall this new dwarf type needs no support.

I've given the image a twist and posterized it to exaggerate the pretty whorls in the centre.
