Angels

A late night last night, with maybe a little too much wine. I bid friends R and P farewell, and before commencing my journey westward visited the nearby National Trust property of Lytes Cary (a beautiful ancient house and arts and crafts garden), and the church of St Peter and St Paul at Muchelney. The church has a unique barrel vaulted roof over the nave, alive with bare breasted male and female angels dressed in Jacobean garb. It was painted by an unknown local artist or artists around 1600.

Then a three hour drive west to find my accommodation for the next few days. It’s certainly an adventure.
