Tinners Arms
A good lunch (mackerel ploughman’s) at the Tinners Arms at Zennor. I liked the Inn Sign. I learnt the other day that the miners stuck candles to their tin hats with lumps of clay as a means of illuminating their working environment.
Next to the pub is St Seneca’s church. Everyone visiting the church looks for the mermaid carved into a bench end over 400 years ago (extra), which has an interesting legend associated with it.
We then travelled onto St Ives, which C and T were keen to visit. There were lots of turnstones hurrying around people’s feet around the harbour, it’s amazing how fearless these little waders can be (extra).
