Marjorie's ramblings

A busy old day

There was no time to be stiff this morning because I had a lot to do. Blip with rant coming up, so do it feel you need to read it.

Put out rubbish bin - tick. (Rubbish not collected.)

Attend dentist for check up - tick. (Nothing serious today.)

Attend hygienist for clean and polish - tick. (New hygienist who was very thorough and not too sadistic!)

Quick food shop - tick (No dental brushes available as advised by hygienist!)

Found free parking space near GP surgery - tick, tick.

Attend GP appointment re anti inflammatories at her request - tick. (Having changed me off the ones I like she now wants me off them all!)

Home in time to have a quick lunch (GP was running late) before Heather came. She is one of Mum’s embroidery friends. She took a few things that had belonged to Mum - tick.

Now for the RANT. I see that Trixie’s Ann had a rant today, so I am in good company.

Today was the day to change to a new internet provider. Last Friday I rushed to be home for the router to arrive - had only 2 hours notice.

Router did not come and driver reported I was not in. Garage open, windows open, car at door. I was cross because the next time they could deliver was today, when I had all the appointments.

I had to say that the parcel could go to a shop in Haydon Bridge today.

Firm phoned to apologise. Said driver had not been able to find my house. (All he had to do was ask anyone in the street or the shop! ‘Nuff said)

Text came to say parcel was at shop.

Drove to Haydon Bridge. Shop assistant said “no parcel, come tomorrow”. I said “no, the parcel is here”.

She kept saying “come tomorrow” and I heard myself getting louder and angrier. English is not her first language which made it worse. I did not want to be cross with her, but I failed. She phoned her boss because my app said he had taken the parcel.

No joy. “Ring delivery firm” she instructed.

I did, but while she was serving another customer, I rootled around amongst the pile of parcels on the floor. I FOUND IT!

Great relief. I realise that I am very dependent on the internet and did not want to be without it.

Connected router. Could see internet, but not connected.

Phoned helpline and a lovely man, probably in the Indian subcontinent “held my hand” until it was connected.

He said it would be 2 hours before it was live, but 5 minutes later we had lift off.

Oh, yes, my Blip is of a clematis in Margret’s garden. Mark has the house well cleared and almost ready for viewing.

What a day!
