Where did that log come from?
(I guess a tree fell down the bank in the storms of winter)
Today I have been more active physically..even managed to walk 15,000 steps,( not all at once), do some baking, visit the pub, and walk back uphill from town. After that I went to the cabin for A Big Sleep.
Friend K and I walked over the Heavens fields behind our house to the waterfall where the stream descend. We sat there awhile, before continuing through the beech wood to the lane,. Going downhill now, we wound our way through fields once more, to the starting point. K didn’t know where Daisybank park/playground was, but had mentioned it several times, so I showed her the way. So many of my nieces and nephews played there as children, as did others that I looked after. Many happy memories! One in particular happened after a little spat between two of my nieces. We took them out to clear the air, in late evening. I’d been gifted a rabbit fur jacket that shed like crazy, I only wore it once because it’s not my thing, but I can distinctly recall the long tall niece sliding down a pole on the climbing frame, into the sandpit, in a fur jacket. She’s 25 now….
We went on to the Crown and Sceptre pub, which I have not visited since it changed hands last year. Had a drink in the beer garden. Seemed quiet, but it was Friday lunchtime. The decor is a bit more folky, or whimsical, in a good way. We returned to my house for lunch, and K took me to town, where I got rid of a few bags of charity shop stuff. That had been cluttering up the house. What a relief!
In other news, I’ve finished my not-so-great novel, so can move on to something else. I think that will be a thriller: Then She Was Gone.
