Fly Catching

The flowers on the curious little South African bulb, Moraea lurida attract a lot of flies.  Maybe not a surprise that they don't have a nice scent.   Last year I had two flowering bulbs, this year I have lots which is good as the flowers are little more than an inch across.  More helps!

A gentle day off.  Some admin for Ruth and errands for Jamie this morning after the dogs had their morning walks.  Then I popped to pottery intending a quickish visit but a good friend turned up which made stopping a bit longer a good option.   The afternoon saw me fettling some pieces at home that I had started this morning.  In this warm weather the clay dries much more quickly so the making is accelerated.

After tea an evening dog walk and mini blipmeet with Lovetrees who is here for another week volunteering on the Talyllyn.  The thunder that had disturbed the late afternoon had receded but there were still spots of rain so I was leaning towards a stroll from home.  In the end my supermarket delivery came much earlier than expected so we only made it to the seafront just before sunset.  Always good to chat with J whose visits are infrequent.   We may keep in touch through Blip but nothing beats a proper chinwag!
