Everyday Life

St Peter in Eastgate

I had quite a bit to do today, some got done, some will wait for another day.

The funeral directors contacted me with a date for my Mum's funeral, and I let all the kids know. I also contacted my Aunt on my Dad's side.

She barely let me get a word in to tell her why I was calling! She and my Mum didn't get on, more on my Mum's part than Jean's. She's friendly and chatty and gets on with most people, though she will speak her mind rather than say what people want to hear, especially where family is concerned.

She was sorry to hear that my Mum had died, of course. Her husband (my dad's brother) isn't well and she is caring for him on her own which must be hard. She's 10 years younger than him, which I didn't know until today.

I think she's maybe become a bit isolated, in the circumstances, as she seemed glad of the chance to have a chat and filled me in on quite a bit of family drama news! I don't know if any of them will come to the funeral. It seems unlikely.

I've also been out for a good walk, and took this shot of a church on Eastgate in uphill Lincoln. It looks very well maintained, as befits that part of town.

As well, I had a long stand in the kitchen and did some proper meal prep. I now have four breakfasts/brunches and my tea for tonight and tomorrow made. Some people make the same evening meal for four nights, but I'd be sick of the repetition by night three I think.

Also the people who show off their meal prep skills on social media, or write cookery books about it most likely have kitchens the size of the entire ground floor of our house, and fridges the size of our kitchen. I've only just managed to fit everything in!
