Haar
Went back to sleep after waking at 5 so no swim. Had a chat with J (who is painting the outside of Y's) about the decoration work I need him to do for me. Long conversation with sister J about the birthday. Glad that she is organising. Then spent ages, far more than it warranted, on apartment stuff. By this time the early haar had burned off and it was another beautiful day.
Off down to Cameron Toll to get my re-heeled boots and then a sandwich from Boots. I also bought a couple of bee houses and a small glass vase (green Caithness to match my pink one) in the Heart Foundation shop.
Drove to the Manor to leave the car and then into the Lyceum via the Grassmarket. Got the first hour of the new class and then back to the Manor to get Mum ready for the Church outing . Even as I was on the bus it was looking ominous, the haar was kissing Arthur's Seat.
It was a nice drive down to North Berwick but the temperature dropped the closer we got and the haar stopped standing off the coast but enveloped us all and there were to be no beautiful views of Fife over the fish 'n chips. Though Fidra had reappeared by the time we left.
Luckily the Rev K was at our table so lots of chat. She's been rehearsing for the General Assembly as she's one of the Moderator's chaplains next week. It was a more sociable evening than I anticipated though I forgot to check what we'd ordered in advance and I got Mum's dessert and vice versa, a clerical mistake by I, the Church Secretary. No harm done, I have lemon tart (reduced from Sainsbury's) in the freezer.
We got back to the Manor about 8 and once home I avoided Eurovision and watched a very entertaining QI in which Sally Phillips was the very knowledgeable star.
It was a shame that we didn't get a good view of North Berwick as this beach in front of The Glen is where I learned so swim 60+ years ago. No wild swimming then, just swimming. And oh it was cold.
