Less haste, more speed(ometer)

Ah, bucolia, surcease of labour, stillness one would curry favour with; a gentle warmth upon my fevered and much knotted brow...

Don't be deceived, dear reader. This was me taking ten minutes in the sunshine at lunchtime which for busy, work reasons ended up at mid-afternoon o'clock.  I didn't manage to finish on time either, which means Fidra waited on the driveway all day for a test ride only to be summarily wheeled back into the garage at nearly bedtime.

The replacement speedometer cable drive gear for the Africa Twin arrived yesterday so it was time to fit it.  Fitting it took five minutes.  Getting the front wheel back on took three hours, involving huffing, swearing, realigning the fork tubes in the yoke, cutting a 2.5mm spacer from an old seat post for the front axle that, in the end, wasn't really necessary, more huffing and swearing and eventual reassembly.  I am not sure yet whether the wheel is correctly aligned with the handlebars and it will require a test ride.

Fortunately tea at 10pm merely required the heating of baked beans left over from yesterday.
