Our last day in the
city of Victoria.

We had a leisurely breakfast in our hotel, then proceeded along the two blocks to the Royal British Columbia Museum for a look at Indian textiles.
My daughter took pity on me and pushed me around the exhibits in a wheelchair. My cranky feet were very grateful, but I had to walk the two blocks back to our hotel at the end.
Our legislative buildings were the setting for a great deal of activity this morning. The street in front was packed with vendors under cover. The lawn at the front held all sorts of cultural activities - ethnic dance, bagpipes....The statue of Queen Victoria looked on...On the street, horses pulling carriages for tourist tours plod along. There are also versions of rickshaws powered by bicycles.
We returned to our hotel by noon to get ready for our 1 PM high tea next door at the Pendray Tea House. This Victorian manor was built in 1896. It faces Victoria's inner harbour and gave us a lovely view of the Empress Hotel (where British Royalty has stayed on occasion).
The sun came out unexpectedly while we were enjoying our tea. I caught some lovely purple iris in the hotel garden as we left.
The afternoon will give us time for a nap...tomorrow we move on.
