Costa's hummingbird

This is the same species as my old pal Zippy. Zippy started coming around in 2012. He was really friendly, often perching a mere foot away from me.  This guy may or may not be a descendant of the Zipster but it sure isn't friendly.  He did seem to like the old feeder I put up.

I spent most of the day around the house doing laundry and playing with the hose. I washed down the patio furniture and watered the plants.  I had to turn off my irrigation system a few weeks ago because the small holes were spraying straight up into the air. The plants really needed some water. 
Note to self: when it's really windy, pay attention to its direction when using the hose!
